~ My "Blogging" experience began approximately 2 years ago. It's been a slow process for me. I've removed the original introduction and encourage you to view my Linked In Profile for the particulars about my professional background and experience. ~ I look forward to CONNECTING with, EDUCATING, SHARING EXPERIENCES, and INSPIRING those who have an interest in increased self-awareness & new insights related to "connectedness", positive, secure attachments with others, as well as with the "Self" in order to stay IN HARMONY with the "human condition" we call "LIFE." Jill Bolte Taylor's stroke of insight Video on TED.com

She makes it very clear, we have two brains -- Left and Right Hemisphere's which, while connected by a massive band of nerve fibers for communication, each hemisphere has very distinct functions.  The right being our emotional, non-verbal (implicit) brain, AND the left being the verbal-linguistic/logical, (explicit) brain.
I can't emphasize enough how much advancements in the science of neurobiology have impacted our ability as mental health professional's to work with more efficacy on issues related to attachment/relational disorders of the "Self".
Hope you'll find this presentation from TED interesting, and that it adds to your understanding of how important the first 3 years of a childs life are fundamentally the most important for becoming SECURELY ATTACHED to primary caregiver's, which leads to fewer psychological difficulties later in life.  These advancements have highlighted how psychotherapy can address relational trauma's, and has the potential for healing, which may improve one's quality of life.  This exciting new paradigm shift, which integrates the physical with the social/psychological sciences has made the therapeutic work I do with client's much more fulfilling for NOT ONLY THE CLIENT, but for myself, as well.
Thanks for your interest.

Best regards,
Sarah
